As if life hasn’t been crazy enough over the past few months with my cancer diagnosis and treatment, surgeries for both of my little ones, the stomach flu, the holidays, and a bathroom renovation… we decided to buy a house… IN TENNESSEE!
Our bathroom is DONE! When we moved into this house 3 years ago, the main bathroom was the room that needed the most work. It was super dated, and in rough shape. Unfortunately, bathroom renovations can be expensive, and this thing needed a full gut… We got by with a DIY refresh for a few years, but I was so excited to finally give our bathroom the love it so desperately needed.
The first stretch of this bathroom renovation has been loud, messy and surprising (remember when we found a secret room?)! It hasn’t been the prettiest of things to see so far, but every step to this point has been SO important! Here is a recap of what has been going on!
So… You know how people always say to expect the unexpected during a remodel? Well, I really don’t think we could have EVER expected what we found in our bathroom today… ANOTHER FREAKING ROOM!
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know I have been teasing a remodel of our main bathroom for A WHILE. We did a “phase 1” refresh of this bathroom when we moved in which consisted of painting the walls, laying peel and stick tile, removing the giant builder grade mirror and adding some new decor pieces including new mirrors, a runner rug and lighting. That was great for a while, but now we are ready for a full remodel!
It feels surreal to be saying this right now, but last week I found out I have thyroid cancer… The good news is that the type of cancer I have been diagnosed with has a really good prognosis and following surgery, I should be in the clear with a low change of recurrence.

Updating our 1990s home and sharing things I love along the way!
A midwesterner through and through, I love all things home. We bought our 1990’s builder-grade home in 2019, right before the pandemic started and 7 months after our first child was born. It was while we were stuck at home that I realized just how much I love making a house feel like home for my family. I’m here to share things that I find and love along the way, and hopefully inspire you to try some things too!
